Return and refund policy

We want you to be happy with your purchase from Richmond Lighting. This policy sits alongside your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and Fair Trading Act 1986, which are not affected by anything below.

Change-of-mind returns
If you change your mind, you may return an item within 30 days of delivery for a refund or exchange, provided it is unused, in its original undamaged packaging, and in resaleable condition. Change-of-mind return shipping is at the customer's cost, and the original shipping charge is non-refundable. Made-to-order, custom and clearance / end-of-line items cannot be returned for change of mind.

Faulty or incorrect items
If a product is faulty, damaged on arrival, or not what you ordered, we'll put it right — with a repair, replacement or refund as appropriate under the Consumer Guarantees Act. Please contact us within a reasonable time of discovering the fault and we'll cover the cost of return shipping for genuine faults.

How to start a return
Email admin@richmondlighting.co.nz or call 03 541 0680 with your order number and details of the item. We'll confirm the return address and next steps. Please don't send items back before contacting us.

Refunds
Once we receive and inspect your return, we'll let you know the outcome. Approved refunds are processed to your original payment method, usually within 5–10 business days. Depending on your bank, it may take a little longer to appear.

Electrical safety
For safety reasons, lighting and electrical products that have been hard-wired or installed cannot be returned for change of mind. Installation should always be carried out by a registered electrician.
